We, KyoVision, are probably the smallest publisher in the world. Formerly called Pacific Vision, started by Kyo Takahashi in 1972 at the second floor of the Nisei Trading Company, the furniture store, of the Little Tokyo, downtown Los Angeles, specializing art and design (unlimited). Objective of Pacific Vision, as the name represents, determined to become a cultural and commercial bridge between the U.S. and Japan. We moved to Tokyo, New York, and finally to Detroit in 1984. We haven't achieved any notable success or growing as a business, but no failure either and survived. During these years, Takahashi accomplished many memorable design and art works including corporate identities, children's books, and a design technical book. |

1984 was a dawn of personal computer era, and art and design techniques have been gradually and drastically changed for better or for worse—artists stop drawing with their own hands. As far as typography is concerned, computer became a miraculous tool for us. Now we are able to do publishing design at the desk top. |
Even so, Takahashi never gave up conventional drawing. From time to time, he draws illustration, maps and charts by his hands at his good old drawing table. Best of all, we have several talented writers and editors support us as freelance bases. Our objective is to publish conscientious subject with harmonized good words and art.
